Rapid Snack comes after Biscuits Leclerc as provider of the month. Basically, during the month of august, products from Rapid Snack will be more visible than usually in Wal Mart supermarkets, close to headliner products in order to promote companies from Quebec among consumers. Founded in Lasalle in 2001, Rapid Snack counts 32 employees and has acted as a provider-partner of Wal Mart since 2004.

“We are really honoured to be chosen as provider of the month by Wal Mart” says CEO Martin Joyal. “Thanks to the visibility Wal Mart will give us, we will be in conditions to promote our own products and inform consumers that a private label from Wal Mart is locally made.

“Apart from the provider that we choose and emphasise every month, we settled an advertising campaign in order to make identification of products from Quebec easier in our stores. To distinguish those products, consumers just have to get familiar with the logo we have put on them” says Chantal Glenisson, vice-president of Wal-Mart Québec’s operations.

Established to support purchasing of products coming from companies from Quebec, the Achat-Quebec Program allowed about fifty new providers to join the 1300 other involved companies. A group of purchasers from Wal Mart Quebec who went to Montreal and Quebec selected those partners in 2005 in order to meet prospects.

Wal-Mart foresees to organise four other meetings with potential providers next fall in Laurentides, Quebec in Drummondville, Magog and St-Georges de Beauce.
