Rapid Snack in a Wal-Mart commercial.


 

The American multinational Wal-Mart wants to enhance its image among Quebec consumers and does so thanks to a commercial that emphasises its purchases from providers from Quebec. For the occasion, Wal-Mart has decided to place a logo on retailers’ shells with the lettering “Achat au Quebec” in order for consumers to identify well products locally bought.

The idea was promoted trough a TV commercial of 30 seconds that shows partners local providers of Wal Mart. Articles in French as well as in English were published in every daily newspapers from Quebec.

What is the “Achat Quebec Program”:

When Wal-Mart Canada implemented itself in Quebec in 1994, the direction committee settled a purchasing policy with the aim to encourage manufacturers from Quebec. Nowadays, Wal Mart buys from 1350 providers from Quebec. Among them are companies that have existed for more than a hundred years and others who just entered the program a few years ago. In 2005, Wal Mart invested more than 1,5 million dollars in the Quebec economy. The positive consequences of this action were many employments and important growth for companies from Quebec.
